Camp CAMP Charity of choice for Basil Fest, May 19, 2018

Chef's Challenge  - May 19, 2018  "A Brunch of Basil at the Pearl"

11:30 to 1 p.m.

Each year we invite local chefs to participate in a challenge to create a recipe for us with a particular Basil theme.  This year we have a great group of professional chefs and nutritionists who will be concocting a variety of wonderfully healthy, and tasty dishes for you to sample.

This year we are pleased to announce that the public's donations to our Chefs' Challenge at Basil Fest on May 19th at the "Pearl" will be in support of The Children's Association for Maximum Potential, known as Camp CAMP.  This incredible group began in 1979 when four dedicated and caring US Air Force Pediatricians, Drs. Chris Plauche Johnson, Fred McCurdy and Robert de Lemos - along with other health professionals - brought together 32 children with special needs for a weekend camp.  These campers were not accepted by other camps, even those equipped for children with special needs, due to the severity of their medical conditions or disabilities.

CAMP serves individuals with mild to severe disabilities.  Diagnoses vary, but include Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Intellectual Disability, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida and both visual and hearing impairments.  CAMP also serves the non-disabled siblings of campers in both summer and school-year programs.

The mission of Children's Association for Maximum Potential is to strengthen and inspire individuals with special needs and those who care for them, through recreation, respite and education.

Please, support this Basil Fest Charity by contributing to our Chef's Challenge.
